Hel is a Norse Goddess who is the daughter of Loki and a giant. According to a prophecy that has been lost over time, Hel was forced by the God, Odin, into Helheim, the underworld, a place where you would go if you don’t die a glorious death and go to Valhalla. She was given control over the nine different dimensions of the afterlife and Hel even has the power to bring back the dead.
In the 13th century, St. Bartholomew, the Bard, mentions a story with Queen Hel having a conflict with Jesus. This was enough to influence culture in society as the plays and songs were shared by the Bard. Over time, the Norse Goddess, Hel, had been replaced with a Christian place called Hell, a place of torture in the afterlife.
